Best Coffee Guide - The Tips To Finding The Best Gourmet Coffee Beans

It is not easy to find the best coffee as there are so many things that play an important role when deciding the winner.

Because coffee grows in various regions all over the world, it has different and unique qualities.

With varied weather and soil conditions you get many different tastes, aromas and flavors.

How do we look for the best coffee?

All coffees consist of Arabica or Robusta beans, or a combination of them. Arabica beans are more expensive and tend to make better coffee as it has superior taste, and is generally speaking more flavorful than Robusta.

We focused on smoothness and complexity. We decided that coffee beans must be medium roasted (not under roasted or charred). We looked for blends with moderate aroma and flavor. We looked for small sourness and bitterness as we do not want our coffee beans to taste bland.

Results

We come to realize that many best selling coffee blends out on the market did not perform up to the expectations.

At the end of the day we picked three winners:

Blended Coffee

  • 1. Eight O’clock 100% Colombian
  • 2. Kickapoo Organic Colombia
  • 3. Caribou Colombia Timana

Decaf blends

  • 1. Peet's Decaf House Blend
  • 2. Caribou Daybreak Morning Blend Decaf
  • 3. Allegro Organic Decaf Blend Medium Dark

For discerning drinkers, especially those who like their coffee black, only a very good cup will do, so we recommend the above Colombians over other blends we tested. But which coffee is best for you is up to you.

But don’t forget that the majority of coffee flavor comes from the oils in the coffee beans. It is best to buy whole beans as soon after roasting as possible. Ideally, you should purchase your coffee fresh every 1 - 2 weeks.
