cuisinart coffee on demand CoffeeInspector tip: Before you make yourself a cup of gourmet coffee in your coffee on demand coffee maker, we recommend you to make one brewing using only water and a paper filter. This will remove any dust or residues that remain in the system from the manufacturing process.

IMPORTANT: The maximum capacity for ground coffee is 15 tablespoons for this 12-cup coffeemaker. Exceeding this amount may cause overflow if the coffee is too finely ground.

Brewing with Cuisinart Coffee On Demand Coffee Maker

The brewing process is easy. You do not need to be a barista or some coffee expert to brew coffee with this unit.
But it is important that you follow some basic steps to ensure the proper flavor and get the best out of your coffee beans.

1. The grind is critical for proper flavor extraction

We recommend a medium-fine grind!

If the grind is too fine, over extraction and bitterness will result. Too fine a grind may also clog your filter. If grind is too coarse, the water will pass through too quickly and the desired flavors will not be extracted.

2. You need clean and fresh water for brewing great cup of coffee!

The quality of the water is as important as the quality of the coffee. A good rule of thumb is that if your water doesn't taste good from the tap, it won't taste any better in your coffee.

3. You need quality coffee beans!

If you choose to grind your own beans, buy the beans fresh and whole, only about a two-week supply at a time for maximum freshness. Once the coffee bean is broken, its flavor degrades very quickly. The best way to maximize freshness is to minimize exposure to air, light and moisture.

4. Use the right amount of coffee!

Add the amount of ground coffee that corresponds to the number of cups being brewed. Many coffee bars and the Specialty Coffee Association of America recommend adding 2 rounded tablespoons of coffee per 6 ounces of water. Some coffee manufacturers recommend using one tablespoon per cup.

We recommend using 1 tablespoon of ground coffee per cup. But use more or less to suit your taste.
