Brewing

You can turn on the machine in two ways. One is to press the power button. The other is to open up the slot to put the K cup pod in, and the machine will automatically turn on when you close it.

Once you close it, the cap for the water reservoir opens for you to fill. Once you fill it and close, at that time you place your cup. When it senses your cup, you push the brew button, and it silently heats up the water and dispenses in about 3 minutes. Once you take your cup, the machine will automatically shut off.

One particularly cool thing that we liked is that, although the brewer is stated to only brew an 8 ounce cup, you can put less water in and the machine still brews a cup of coffee. So depending on how you like your coffee, you can make a 6 ounce or a 4 ounce cup as well. This lets you make a stronger cup out of regular k cups.

Clean out a k cup and remove filter. Cut the flat rim off carefully with a scissors. Insert the plastic cup into the My k cup, make sure you left all the vertical wall. Then, put the metal basket with grounds inside the plastic insert within the My k cup. This causes the water to move through slower and brews much stronger.

We tested several extra bold K Cup coffees, regular strength K Cup coffees, and even some teas finding the hot beverages produced had no noticeable difference in quality when using the smaller Keurig Mini B30 over the larger K Cup single serve coffee makers.
