We've been testing the b70 unit for a month now and will present you our findings. As the b70 unit comes from Keurig we can’t just ignore other factory models.

That is why we decided to make comparison between Keurig b70 and Keurig b60 brewer which is the closest to b70 model if we look features that both brewers offer.

Ok, what are the main differences between Keurig b70 K Cup Single Cup Brewer and the b40, b50, and Keurig b60?

The Main Differences Between Keurig B70, B60, B50 and B40

  • 1. Smaller footprint

  • 2. Larger reservoir
  • 3. Reduced noise during brewing
  • 4. Has 4 programmable cup sizes versus 3 on the Keurig B60 (the largest cup option -11.25 oz, allows to fill just about any travel mug) -- that’s great if you are a travel fanatic as I m.

Keurig B70 Main Features

  • 1. 4 brew sizes: 5.25-oz. more intense cup, 7.25-oz. regular cup, 9.25-oz. mug, 11.25-oz. travel mug

  • 2. Adjustable brew temperature
  • 3. Blue backlit LCD display and water reservoir
  • 4. Very fast Brewing - Ready to brew 3 minutes after turned on
  • 5. Digital clock, Programmable on/off timer
  • 6. Descale indicator for long life
  • 7. Removable 60-oz. water reservoir
  • 8. Removable stainless steel drip tray
  • 9. Chrome handle and faceplate and is UL/c-UL Approved- Warranted and save for household use

The difference between the factory Keurig models is not just in features they offer. The biggest difference is in the look and the design of the Keurig b70. The Keurig b70 is thinner than other Keurig brewers. And it really stands out in the counter of your kitchen. It looks so cool.

The new closing mechanism for inserting the K Cups into the Keurig b70 is slightly better than from other brewers as it closes a bit easier. And if all the components are in place as they suppose to be, than the Keurig b70 single serve brewer is quieter than the Keurig b60 brewer.

If for example the lid to the reservoir is loose or the brewer sits on an uneven counter, the machines will sound about the same as the Keurig b60 coffee when priming.

During the brewing, the B70 unit is always quieter!

When we tested it we found the large water reservoir feature worth the extra $40 we paid for the machine. That is especially true if you know you will be drinking a lot of coffee.
So if you already know that you like to drink greater numbers of coffee a day or you have many coffee lovers in your home, than you should not have a problem deciding which Keurig brewer is the right one for you.

I have to admit that the on-of button which is located in the back of the Keurig b70 did not impress me. In my opinion it is much better to have the on-of button on the front of the brewer just like the Keurig b60, b50 and b40 have it.
The main reason is that if you put your new b70 brewer against the wall on your counter, and if you haven not already pre-programmed the machine to come on in the morning, then you will have to reach around to power it up.

We also missed the water filter that would help especially if you have hard water. For us it is not a big of deal as we always use battled water as the coffee tastes better and also helps to preserve the coffee brewer.

So how did the Keurig Elite b70 brewer performed during the brewing?

We putt the Keurig b70 brewer through its paces. We tried coffee from all models - the b40, b50, b60, and b70 and found the coffee to be the same when brewed at the normal 7.25 ounce setting.

We also used the Keurig My k cup reusable coffee filter in all the models with some premium roast coffee from Green Mountain, and also found the coffee to be almost the same.

The b70 from Keurig is a bit quieter during the brew cycle, but still it has to be mentioned that at the end the brewer pump is quite loud.  And the whole brewing takes like 15 seconds less with b70 unit. So it is a bit faster than the other models but this does not make a difference in coffee taste of flavor.

The coffee from all Keurig machines tasted almost the same. So there is almost no difference there. All the Keurig brewers produced great coffee. We found no real difference in brewing the coffee at the different temperatures.

As the Keurig b70 has the big 11.25 oz brew feature, we can brew coffee to fill our tall travel coffee mugs. But we need to tell you we did not like the taste of coffee that came out of the 11.25 oz setting. It was just not strong enough. We tried to use the extra bold k cups – but it just did not do the job. For tall travel mugs it is better to use my k cup filter and use pre-ground coffee. It always does the trick and your coffee tastes like coffee.

Pros and Cons Of Keurig b70 Coffee Maker

Pros

  • 1. Better closing mechanism for inserting k cups
  • 2. Larger 11.25 oz brew size - only good for use with extra bold K Cups
  • 3. Faster brewing
  • 4. Stylish slick design
  • 5. 60 water reservoir - less trips to the faucet
  • 6. Larger display with easier to program interface
  • 7. Quieter than the older models

Cons

  • 1. Price
  • 2. On-Off at the back of the unit
  • 3. 11.25 brew size is good for extra bold K Cups or My k cup coffee

Final Words On Keurig b70 Brewer

To be honest we like the Keurig b70 brewer and we find it to be an improvement over the Keurig b60. As the price is much higher than by the b60 you need to think if it is worth it.

Both brewers make great coffee; the main difference is in speed and in extra features. You have to decide if the large water reservoir, quite brew and faster brewing are worth the additional 24$. (Updated)  Because the difference nowadays is so small I would say yes.

We recommend you to buy the Keurig b70 brewer if you need the larger reservoir and if you are looking to purchase a Keurig machine that's got more features than other Keurig models.

The Keurig b70 single serve brewer is a great choice for any coffee drinker looking for a variety of options in a single serve coffee maker. You can get the best price and customer service on Keurig b70 from the official manufacturer (see or click the picture).
