Which Senseo Coffee Maker Is Your Favorite?

Senseo coffee maker offers coffee consumer easy way to enjoy a cup of gourmet coffee at home or in the office. It has three characteristics that made him popular all over the World.

Have you heard about the Senseo coffee brewers by Philips?

If you did not, don’t bother. We will introduce the Senseo coffee machines to you in the Senseo Review bellow.  In a way this will be your Senseo coffee maker manual that will give you an idea if this coffee makers are the right choice for you.

Senseo was introduced to the US market just recently.  In Europe meanwhile, the coffee makers from Philips factory which produces Senseo coffee machines are known for a longer time.

Due to the fact that Senseo is still not as know in the USA as is in Europe, I decided to write something about the Senseo coffee maker, about Senseo coffee maker parts, Senseo coffee maker cleaning..

senseo coffee maker

It was invented by electronics specialists Philips in cooperation with Douwe Egberts - the coffee roasting company from Europe. They are very well known and established corporations with a worldwide reputation. The two factories originate from the european country Netherland. They worked closely together and accomplished a great goal, they created a very good coffee maker.

Single brew or serve coffee pod system which is incorporated into Senseo coffee brewers is unique and thus patented. It comprises of reliable and intuitive software which allows the coffee brewer to make perfectly balanced mixture of coffee and drinking water. Unique spray heads generate the unique frothy coffee cream.

One of my customs is to drink a cup of coffee two or three times per day. Due to the fact i work in coffee industry i like to test as many coffee makers as possible.
I got my first Senseo coffee maker for a test just a few months ago. First thing that makes this coffee maker different from the majority is very different design. The Senseo coffee brewer is really slick and stylish.

The machine comes with well writen instructions which really helped me to get over the first period of Senseo coffee brewing. Installation was very easy. A well-written handbook or manual identified all of the features and included a useful Quick Start Manual, which I used as I was keen to try a fresh pot of Senseo coffee.

Senseo coffee brewer is presently offered in three colors : black, white and blue color. If you are lucky you can get a hold on a Limited Edition Red Model (available in Netherlands and Belgium ).

The coffee pod holder is released with a special latch. The brewer can brew one or two cups of coffee in one brewing cycle.

The water tank stores enough drinking water to create up to five cups of java. (Now you can buy even bigger water reservoirs. But you need to buy them separately)

The 1450 Watts water boiler that Senseo uses heats a full water tank in about ninety seconds.

The Senseo Unit is very easy to use. By pressing just three buttons and some patience, you get a cup of fresh coffee of your choice in no time. On/off switch incorporates a red light that shows the coffee maker readiness to brew. When the water is heating up, the red light blinks, and shines permanently when the water is ready for brewing. If the level of water drops to a point that water reservoir needs to be refilled, the red Senseo coffee maker light will blink really fast.  Senseo coffee maker has brewing buttons on both sides. The buttons give you a choice to brew either a single or two cups of Gourmet coffee with a click of a button.

Prior to using the Senseo coffee maker for the first time you need to flush it to make it ready for brewing.

Senseo Coffee Maker Brewing

First you pour the water into the water tank
Than you select the coffee pod and insert it in the machine
And finally press the brew button

In takes roughly 80 seconds for the water to heat to appropriate temperature and than additional 25 seconds for the brewing.  So you get a cup of delicious coffee in less than 2 minutes.
It comes with an auto off feature which turns off the brewer in 1 hour after the last brewing.

Senseo Coffee Maker Cleaning

The Senseo Machine is easy to use and even easier to clean.
I disassembled all the removable parts (coffee outflow unit, pod holders, drip tray, cup tray and water reservoir and rinsed them in some warm drinking water). I did the cleaning myself although you can also clean Senseo coffee maker parts in the dishwasher. The result is similar as if you clean it yourself. After the brewing I like to clean the outside of the brewer with a ordinary moist cloth. You don’t need to buy some special pricy cloths for your brewer.

Senseo Coffee Maker Pods

senseo-coffee-pods

The Senseo coffee machine requires no filters or disposal of coffee grounds because it uses patented Senseo Coffee Pods that you just insert in the machine. The Senseo Pods are small bags containing pre-sealed ground coffee, so its benefits are numerous.

Coffee beans are roasted, blended and produced by Sara Lee Corporation from Illinois, USA with operations in more than 40 countries all over the World. You can purchase Senseo coffee pods from many online and offline retailers. They offer different varieties and flavors from Breakfast Blend, Medium, Dark Roasts, Decaffeinated, Vienna Hazelnut Waltz, Paris French Vanilla to Cappuccino, Brazil Blend, Kenya Blend, Kona, Sumatra Blend and Colombia Blend.

The system is designed to give maximum flavor from each and every cup produced. Because of advance technology, the brewing takes not more than a minute. The result is fresh and delicious cup of coffee with a frothy layer of crema on top which is a result of the Senseo system’s brewing process which heats water to precisely the correct temperature. And the best thing is it is ready to brew new cup of coffee instantly. That feature comes in hand when we invite a group of friends to our house.

The Senseo coffee brewing system offers a wide variety of choices for coffee lovers, and produces a consistently superior cup of coffee anytime you need it most. If you are a person who likes a cup of coffee just with a touch of a button, than Senseo coffee maker is the right choice for you.

For a gourmet cup of coffee you also need good quality coffee beans. But due to the fact this is a single serve coffee maker that uses coffee pods with pre-ground coffee inside, we just need to know what kind of coffee we like and how strong our coffee should be.

The coffee pods are maid by Douwe Egberts. I don’t need to tell you about them as they should be well known to you coffee lovers out there.

But if you don’t know them you should know that Douwe Egberts was established in 1753 by a man called Egbert Douwes. He was selling coffee, tea and tobacco in the home town in the Netherland.  Through time his work and vision led to the development of the corporation that became the Dutch leader in coffee market.

In 1978 Douwe Egberts teamed up with Chicago Centered Sara Lee Company to become the second biggest coffee roaster in the world.

The original Senseo coffee pods are roasted to different levels and known as:

1. gentle
2. standard
3. dark roast
4. decaffeinated

That was in the beginning. Now days you can get many different flavors of coffee pods from different coffee manufacturers. Coffee lovers can really taste different coffee flavors and get better understanding of their drinking preferences.

You should think about buying a permanent coffee filter if you are a serious coffee drinker. But you need to look closely what you buy as some filters can be used with some specific models only. The good example is permanent Coffee Filter which can only be used with this Senseo coffee brewer.

Anyway these filters are great if you want to use your favorite coffee that you just can’t be without.
But, the pods are better option if you lack the time needed for the whole coffee grinding and brewing. You know, just press the brew button and wait for two minutes and you have your coffee ready for you.

Senseo coffee makers can be purchased at reputable department stores or you can buy them online at Amazon, Wal-Mart or Target. The coffee pods can also be purchased there.

The Senseo coffee maker is a good coffee maker for the money you invest in it. Sure, the coffee cant achieve the high standard quality flavor that the high end espresso machines produce, but it produces better coffee than many single serve coffee units from other manufacturers out there.

If you like the commodities that single serve coffee units brings, than you really should think about getting a new Senseo single serve brewer.
